Chemical peel and anti-aging facials

Rejuvi Dermatological, Dermaceutics and Mesoesthetic Medical are the ranges used in our Aesthetic Treatments. A chemical peel is an effective anti-aging treatment, which provokes accelerated skin regeneration and rejuvenation in the superficial layers of the skin. Chemical peels consist of and utilise AHA and BHA acids (25% to 75%), mono acids, as well as a combination acids or TCA to improve the skin’s texture, reduce wrinkle depth, post-acne scaring and stretch marks. Through peels, the skin’s elasticity, tonicity and tone are visibly improved and the skin’s complexion smoothed and plumped. Oily and acne prone skin improves through visible pore reduction and excessive sebaceous secretion is diminished. Hyper-pigmented skin is lighter and blemishes significantly improved, skin tone is unified and complexion is brightened, adding luminosity.

Pigmentation treatments

Rejuvi Dermatological, Dermaceutics and Mesoesthetic Medical products are used in anti/hyper-pigmentation treatments. We treat from very mild epidermal and through sun exposure damaged skin pigmentation, using gentle peels and lightening treatments, to dermal pigmentation using Cosmelan and/or Dermamelan Mesoesthetic medical de-pigmentation treatments and strict home care protocol. Results vary, but have been long-lasting, depending on the severity of the pigmentation and the home care used, as well treating the cause and inhibiting further melanogenisis, thereby reducing and blocking the melanin-producing enzyme Tyrosinase.

Acne treatments

Rejuvi Dermatological utilises multiple mechanisms to combat P.Acne bacteria from spreading through aseptic cleansing to kill the bacteria in situ, AHA complex to unplug pores and remove micro-comedones and to inhibit the over-abundance of male hormones that produce excessive sebum in the skin. A special innovative formula consisting of organic acids, zinc and vitamins is used to inhibit sebaceous secretion; this multiple action approach make Rejuvi Acne treatment an effective tool in combating and controlling this skin disorder.

Mesoesthetic with Acnelan, utilizes a special innovative m.acne complex formulation, that combines active substances selected specifically for their complimentary ability to address the numerous factors that affect acne-prone and seborrhoeic skins. This formula contains salicylic acid, mandelic acid and sodium leparglilate, which is combined with a bexaretinyl complex that has a unique synergistic effect that allows deep cleansing and integral renewal of acne-prone and seborrhoeic skins, controlling bacterial proliferation by inhibiting growth and reproduction of the bacterial strains that make up the flora of the skin that block pilosebaceous canals and thereby reducing pimples, papules and pustules.

Laser rejuvenation and hair removal treatments

Using a HIPL (High Intensity Pulsed Light) with GEM (Geometrical Energy Management) Hair Removal machine, the results are affordable, painless and highly effective. The machine uses special developed, patented technology for deep skin penetration based on a broadband wavelength. The undesired hair is removed by coagulation of the hair follicle. The high intensity light passes from the light source into the follicle and destroys it. The energy of the light source is absorbed in the pigmented parts of the follicle. The darker the hair the better the results, but even blond, grey or red hair removal is possible and available at this clinic.

Photo rejuvination is very successful in improving the skin’s texture, elasticity and plumpness, due to the stimulation of collagen and elastin fibres through light pulses.

Acne can be treated with great effect, as the light pulse eliminates the P.Acne Bacteria and thus facilitates the disappearance of the redness and pimples. The Herpes Simplex Virus is eliminated with the same light pulse locally.

Mesotherapy

What is mesotherapy and what types of mesotherapy treatments are available?

Mesotherapy (from Greek mesos, "middle", and therapy from Greek therapeia, "to treat medically") is a non-surgical cosmetic aesthetic treatment. Mesotherapy employs multiple ways of injecting plant extracts, vitamins, and other ingredients into the middle dermis.

1.) What is needle-free mesotherapy?

Needle-free mesotherapy is a painless non-bruising technique where natural extracts, vitamins, homeopathic agents and pharmaceuticals, especially hyaluronic acid are passed into the layer of fat & connective tissue under the skin. Needle-free mesotherapy is highly effective for a variety of purposes, Male Breast Reduction, Love Handle Reduction, Facial and Neck Slimming, Unsightly Double Chin, Skin Tightening, Fat Reduction, Cellulite Treatment, Saggy Knees, Body Lift, Stretch marks, Unwanted Appearance of Fats In Stubborn Areas, Unshapely Arms, Thighs, Calves and Hips, Unwanted Underarm Fat Deposit, Bra Line Fat Deposit, Fine Lines & Wrinkles, Loss of Elasticity, Uneven Skin Tone and Texture, and Clinical Skin Whitening.

The presence of hyaluronic acid in epithelial tissue has been shown to promote keratinocyte proliferation and increase the presence of retinoic acid, effecting skin hydration and the ability of cells to hold water. Hyaluronic acid's interaction with hyaluron receptor cells drives collagen synthesis and normal skin function. Present in the extracellular matrix of basal keratinocytes, hyaluronic acid is critical to the structural integrity of the dermal collagen matrix. These benefits make hyaluronic acid a very effective topical humectant with results sustained over a period of time through an ongoing treatment program.

Hyaluronic acid is also a major component of skin, where it is involved in tissue repair. When skin is excessively exposed to UVB rays, it becomes inflamed (sunburn) and the cells in the dermis stop producing as much hyaluronic acid, and increase the rate of its degradation. Hyaluronic acid degradation products also accumulate in the skin after UV exposure.

The needle-free mesotherapy device creates also has a lifting effect approach to treating aging, sagging, and wrinkling of the skin involving the face and neck. Needle-free Mesotherapy helps to shrink fat from under the neck, remove free radical damage, and tighten loose skin. The effects rejuvenate the face and neck without the unnatural appearance and painful recovery of surgical alternatives.

Advantages of Needle-free Mesotherapy

Needle-free Mesotherapy is a new technique without pain and without bruising. It has advantages over oral, injection or intravenous administration due to its non-invasive nature, convenience and lack of trauma.

  • Clients with a low pain threshold can now receive Mesotherapy.
  • Larger areas can be treated.
  • Clients can return to normal activities immediately.

2.) What is Micro-needling or Collagen Induction Therapy?

Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) also known as micro-needling, is a procedure that improves the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars and stretch marks by stimulating your skin’s natural ability to repair itself. It refers to the effect that micro injury to the surface of the skin results in new collagen formation. It is most commonly spoken about in the minimally invasive arena of micro-needling treatments.

Anytime there is injury to the skin, repair occurs through the formation of new collagen.

It is a cosmetic procedure that involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles (micro-needling the skin). It is a technique for which research is ongoing but has been used for a number of skin problems including scarring and acne.

The procedure usually involves a specialized device which can take the form of a micro-needling pen, manual rolling device or an automated stamping device.

The micro-needling pens can control the depth of penetration anywhere from 0.5mm down to 3.5mm in increments of 0.1mm with the most precise devices and by 0.25mm or 0.5mm on others depending on the type of motor.

The skin is topically anaetheticed and then an instrument (whose inspiration may have come from the Marquis de Sade) laden with tiny needles is rolled or gently moved across the skin. The needles penetrate to a depth determined by the therapist by adjusting the pen accordingly corresponding to the depth of the dermis.

In case a needle roller is used, the depth cannot be adjusted and an appropriate roller with a needle depth needed for the specific treatment has to be used over the whole area to be treated.

The penetration of the micro-needles into the dermal layer of the skin creates numerous micro-injuries, stimulating the fibroblast cells to increase collagen production.  Although results are visible within 10 days, the actual result only becomes apparent after approximately 90 days, since it takes around 3 months for the newly produced collagen fibres to mature.  Upon maturation, these fibres shrink slightly, thereby creating the firmer, plumper appearance.

When compared to other anti-ageing treatments such as filler injections, the advantage of the Collagen Induction Pen treatment is, that it activates the skin’s own self-repair mechanism, rather than having a foreign substance injected into the skin. The Micro-needle pen is intended to stimulate the skin for natural collagen induction. It helps with absorption of active ingredients, skin tightening and rejuvenation, acne scar and wound healing, improves wrinkles and fine lines, minimizes pore size, improves stretch marks and alopecia and improves the overall health and thickness of the dermis and epidermis.

What are the side effects?

Depending on the depth of treatment selected, the after-effect is similar to mild-to-moderate sunburn.  With the correct after-care products, the ‘down-time’ is limited to 6-12 hours.  During this time, it is important to avoid the outdoors.  Make-up application is permitted after 12 hours.

3.) What is injectable mesotherapy?

Injectable Mesotherapy is a medical technique whereby active substances are introduced into the skin surface by numerous micro-injections via a syringe, to correct aesthetic disorders such as skin aging, cellulite and alopecia, among others.

Provided it is performed under adequate conditions and with the correct substances, it is a very effective procedure.

Differences between micro-needling (CIT) and injectable mesotherapy is :

a.) when there is a predisposition for post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation

b.) the patient/client to be treated is under 30 years of age

The method that renders a less aggressive inflammatory response is injectable mesotherapy, as the needle is angled at 40*, which is less aggressive to the skin than micro-needling at 90*.

Mesotherapy is 100% ADJUSTABLE

  • the most comprehensive, widest range of serums are available
  • individual application or creation of customised cocktails to treat the skin’s problems
  • skin is diagnosed to identify its specific needs, the most suitable active substances are selected and a tailor-made treatment protocol is designed on a treatment-by-treatment basis

Plasma Pen Treatments

What is the Plasma Pen?
The Plasma Pen is a device that produces a plasma micro beam that is applied to the area of choice. This beam generates heat and causes sublimation of the outermost part of the epidermis (outer layer of the skin), without damage to the surrounding or deeper structures of the skin.

What is Plasma Sublimation and how does it work?
Plasma sublimation is a revolutionary method of cosmetic procedure that requires no cutting of the skin, and no injectable anaesthetics. Trough the arc spark that is generated when the electric current comes into contact with the oxygen surrounding the skin, this electric charge vaporises/sublimates the skin causing tightening of the skin.

Plasma is generated when the atmospheric gas between the instrument tip and the skin is ionised. This causes a small electrical arc which causes the contraction, tightening and shortening of the skin fibres, which will result in a reduction of the skin surface, therefore improving the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and scars etc. The visible results are similar to those seen with surgery, but without the need for a single cut or stitch.

Plasma Sublimation has allowed aestheticians to treat signs of ageing and skin complaints, without actually cutting the skin, hence the soft surgery name. Plasma sublimation devices have many uses including: eyelid reconstruction (Blepharoplasty), removing the lines around the mouth (Perioral lift), improvement in the appearance of many types of scars, face and neck lifts, fat loss (Xanthelasma), thread vein removal, tattoo removal, and treating a number of skin imperfections. Since plasma sublimation has such a wide range of therapeutic uses, it is really important to find an experienced aesthetic practitioner and to attend a consultation before going ahead with any treatment.

What happens during Plasma Sublimation Treatment?
Following a consultation where you can discuss your expectations for treatment and whether plasma sublimation is the right treatment for you, the practitioner will take some photographs for later before and after comparison, and you will sign a consent form. Then, the treatment area will be cleaned. A topical anaesthetic cream will be applied, or if necessary; this will be left to take effect for up to 30 minutes.

The plasma tip is held 1-2mm away from the surface of the skin, and multiple shots are delivered to the treatment area close together. If the tip does touch the skin, most devices will cut out straight away, to stop any injury. However, you are likely to feel heat and discomfort in the treatment area, but treatment will only last between 10 - 60minutes depending on the size of the area being targeted.

What are the risks and potential complications from Plasma Sublimation Treatment?
In the hands of a trained professional, plasma sublimation is a very low risk procedure. It can even be used on delicate areas, such as the inner rim of the eye, following advanced training.

The side effects are minimal, and will not stop you from going about your daily activities. As mentioned previously there will be some redness and swelling, and the crusting of the skin may feel itchy and sore.

What should you do after Plasma Sublimation Treatment?
You are likely to feel a burning sensation after treatment, but that will usually disappear in the space of a few hours. If it does persist an anti-inflammatory, such as ibuprofen is recommended. A cold compress should provide significant and immediate relief for the swelling, but an antihistamine will help if it is particularly uncomfortable.

Our clinic will offer you a special after care cream and you will be advised to purchase a water-based liquid foundation to cover-up and disguise the crusting, and it is important to keep the skin protected with a high factor sunscreen (SPF 30+) whilst it is healing. Do not pick or scratch at the carbon crusts as this could lead to scarring or even infection, so keep the area clean and dry. The skin will be particularly sensitive whilst it is healing, so avoid scrubs or alcohol based cleansers. You will be provided with written instructions for a safe aftercare regime, but always ask any unanswered questions.

Who can carry out Plasma Sublimation Treatment?
Plasma sublimation should only ever be carried out by a fully trained medical doctor or nurse or a qualified trained medical aesthetician (Somatologist).

Summary of Plasma Sublimation Treatment information
Plasma sublimation is a complete innovation in the world of aesthetic medicine, as it claims to offer the same results as an invasive surgical procedure, without a single cut to the skin being required. It also offers better, more instant, and longer lasting results than with other non-surgical modalities such as cryogenics and radiofrequency. This is because the plasma method of skin tightening maintains the integrity of the skin much better.

Plus, since no general anaesthetic is required, plasma sublimation has a much quicker recovery time than surgical procedures, whilst also being quicker and cheaper.

The tools used for plasma sublimation are extremely precise, and can be used on delicate areas (including the inner eyelid) with very little risk of injury. The tool can also be used on any area of the skin, and treat a wide range of complaints from wrinkles, to scars, to skin imperfections. This new innovation in soft surgery is considered to be the next big thing in the aesthetic industry.

Slimming

Our weight loss assist program consists of lipolytic injections to facilitate the breakdown of excess unwanted body fat, as well as an eating plan to help you change your eating habits to keep the unwanted body fat off permanently. The L’Carnitine lipolytic serum stimulates the fat cells and alpha receptors to emulsify and burn unwanted body fat and the Artichoke serum helps to eliminate this emulsified fat out through the lymphatic system. Research has shown that it works on specific areas where you have got the most fat deposits. This program is formulated by a Medical doctor and Nutritionist. It reshapes your body and easily maintains your shape and size after you have been on the program once you have adjusted to your new eating habits.

Mesostabyl serums are used to help break down and eliminate hard body fat in areas where normal exercise will not show much results, eg. Love handles on the sides above the hips and saddle bags, as well as hard fat deposits around the knees and ankles.

Medical tattooing, permanent make-up and microblading

For Microblading and shading of eye brows, both embroidery and microblading techniques are used, to give you a full natural look that lasts longer than microblading alone. Natural colour tones are used that are best suited to each client individually, to enhance and give a natural look.

For Permanent make-up for eye line and lip line, two methods are used, namely the machine and embroidery techniques, which allow your eye and/or lip line to last longer, as the colour is implanted deeper into the dermis through the slanted needles of the embroidery pen.

The colour pigment used is of the highest quality.

Medical tattooing entails areola restoration and reconstruction, scar re-pigmentation and scalp re-pigmentation through hair thinning or hair loss (alopecia).

Tattoo removal

For tattoo removal we use a chemical extraction process, which requires over tattooing over the existing tattoo with the Rejuvi tattoo remover and thereby extracting the colour pigment in the skin. Several treatments are needed, depending on the age, depth and colour pigment used for the original tattoo. Tattoo’s can be successfully removed without scaring or side effects if after-care instructions are followed.
